This week has been a rather busy week as the kids are back in school and I’m busy de-cluttering and getting the house ready for Chinese New Year which is at the end of January. This month will be a busy month as the new school year has just started and I have to get the kids settled into the new school/home schedule.  I too am stepping up a notch as I’ve enrolled with a few challenges this month- Ultimate Blog Challenge, P52 (Photo Challenge) and  UnButtoned ( De-cluttering) challenge.

I’ve been thinking a lot about sushi and have decided that we should have sushi again for our Chinese New Year Eve Reunion dinner instead of the traditional Chinese dishes. We had sushi for Christmas and the kids were happily gobbling it down.

How was your first week of January been?

1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?

It’s getting a bit hotter now as we move out of the rainy season.  There is more sun and it’s great as I am able to get the laundry done faster.

2. When you’re sick what do you seek comfort from?
 My teddy bear and chocolate.

3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?
Firstly- finish up the UBC, U-nButtoned challenge, sort out my work plan, start  lessons at my playschool for Tiger girl.

4. Have you ever served on a jury?
No.

5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
I would be a panda bear. It’s so cute and cuddly:P

1. When you grew up were you ever told how to deal with problems?
No. Most of the time I have to figure it out by myself.

2. What was your first apartment like?
We are still staying there now. It’s a 3 bedroom apartment.

3. What was the first car you owned?
 A Hyundai Accent 1.5L (auto)

4. Tell us about a crush or relationship that you had at high school.
I was in an all girls school so there is no boys and no real chance to mix around with boys.

5. Have you ever had an “enemy” in your life?
I met many “Devils” but no one I will list as an “enemy”.

6. What were you doing the first night that you got drunk?
I never drunk till I got drunk so there is no answer for this.

7. Ten years ago, what was you job and did you like it?
Ten years ago I just started out as an elementary school teacher. I liked it back then and am still in the same job.

8. What movie had the biggest impact on you as a child and why?
The Muppet movies.. I love how they followed their dreams.

9. What are your plans for this weekend?
Chilling out with the kids and finalizing up my travel plans and itinerary for next month’s holiday.

5QF & Saturday Memes

I have been having a busy week with activities for the kids this whole week. We went to Pasir Ris Park, the airport , Science centre and outings with the grannies. It’s finally Saturday and  I’m getting a little breather and have some time to chill out before another week of fun filled activities for the kids this school holiday.

1. Is there a special dish you prepare that you are famous for?

Not really but my specials are chawanmushi, teriyaki chicken and mash potato.

2. Are you (did you) go Black Friday shopping ?

Yes I shopped online. I bought antivirus software.

3. What are your strangest holiday traditions?

We don’t have any holiday traditions which we follow. I guess it would be not to accept poorly recycled presents ( junk) which would only clutter up our house. I seriously promote giving cash or gift cards if one in unsure of what the recipient likes.

4. Pecan or pumpkin pie? (She actually asked “Apple or pumpkin?” I just T-giving’ed it!)

I personally like apple pie. I don’t think the kids would like to have pecan or pumpkin pie to eat.

5. When will you put up your Christmas tree?

Not this year. Maybe when Tiger girl is 2 or 3 years old as she is sure to tear the tree to pieces and take down all the decorations if we put up a tree this year.

1. There’s a Time Genie. She can put you back in time to relive a day that you loved. If you could turn back the hands of time, what day would you relive if given this opportunity?

I would like to relive my wedding day and bask in the moment of being “queen for a day” again.
2. What did you do yesterday?

The kids and I went out with my parents to the airport for lunch. They had fun going down the slide at Terminal 3.

3. You’ve been given 3 parachutes, but there are 4 people who need them. Who will you not give one to: Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Kim Kardashian, or Simon Cowell? Why?

It would be Kim Kardashian.  I’m bias towards the guys.. they are much better eye candy then her.

4. Where are you going and where have you been?

I’ll be going off to Bali next month for a short vacation. We have been to Penang, Malaysia and Hong Kong earlier on this year.

5. They say that books read as a child make more of an impact on a person than books read at any other time in life. Are there any books that you particularly loved, that shaped the way you think when you were little?

I loved reading Nancy Drew books when I was young. I guess reading them helped fuelled my interest in crime and mystery.

6. What do you look forward to most in the next six weeks?

The end of the school vacations so I can finally get back  to some normalcy.

7. What was the last text message you received?

Have a safe trip!!” by one of my friends.

8. Do you prefer to call or text?
I prefer to text. I find it easier then to call as the baby keeps on snatching the phone when I am on it.
9. What were you doing at 9PM last night?
Trying to put the kids to bed unsuccessfully.
