Doggy Boy’s Art Work

Artwork done in school

It has been awhile since I posted the Doggy Boy’s artwork. Here’s a collage of a scene underwater and the Chinese New Year lantern which he made in school.

Tackling Creative Writing

Creative writing is something relatively new to Monkey Boy. Most of the time he is used to describing an item as it is seen as taught by the teachers in his kindergarten.

Thinking outside the box is what I have been teaching him. I have been planting the schematics in his brain to help him visualize the different scenarios which he may have to describe when he is doing essay writing.

Nowadays there are quite a few different assessment books which can be used as tools to develop a child’s creative writing abilities.

Earlier on in the week we were working on completing one of the pages in the book which had this scenario on imagining that you were a pet. Monkey boy was let through a series of questions which he had to answer.

Imagine that you are a pet.

  1. What would you be?
    I would be a goldfish.

  2. Where would you live?
I would live in a fish tank.

  3. What would you eat?
    Pralines

  4. What would you do to make your owner happy?
Share my pralines with my owner.

  5. Do you think you would be happy as a pet? Why?
Definitely, because I can swim in the fish tank and eat pralines.

I asked him the reasoning behind why he wrote that the goldfish eats pralines instead of fish food. He told me that he loves pralines and swimming. It would be really cool to be able to swim around everyday and feast on chocolates.

Another point which Monkey boy was highlighting is that the instructions said IMAGINE….so that means anything is possible and it’s up to him how he wants to imagine it to be. Good  answer!!
