Weekend Reflections- Taking Care of Baby

WeekendReflections

Riona

It has been nearly 4 years since I last took care of a newborn.  Even though I have experience with the two boys but carrying for a girl seems different from the last two times.

The boys they did not sleep as much as newborns as compared to Riona. They were super active and could stay awake for 2-3 hours in between feeds. It was definitely more difficult caring for them as compared to her. Maybe caring for the boys have prepared me for  dealing with another difficult baby.

She sleeps more then them and has no problem latching on from birth.  She now weighs 3.8kg. Within 2 weeks she has put on 600g.  I guess by the time she is 1 month old she should be nearing 5kg .

It is back to the routine of changing diapers 6-7 times a day and 3 hourly feeding. This time around it doesn’t seem as tiring as it used to be back then when Roy was a newborn. I do have time for myself and also taking care of the boys needs when they are back from school.

I guess the real challenge will come when confinement is over and we get back to the normal routine of personally  handling the 3 kids.

An Unforgettable Road Trip- Great Ocean Road

It has been a long time since R and I went on a road trip with friends. The last time was more then 10 years ago when we were still studying in Melbourne. We rented a car and went along the Great Ocean Road with our friends when term was out. It was fun driving along the windy coastal road taking in the majestic scenery of the ocean and breathing in the fresh ocean breeze.

I love being able to stop as and when we wanted for a break or to take photographs. It was really fun being with friends and enjoying ourselves eating freshly caught seafood at a seaside cafe while listening to the sound of waves hitting the shoreline.

It was also fun checking into motels along the way to stay and bunking in with a group of Uni friends. Those were the carefree days which we had.

Watching the sun go down on the 12 apostles  is simply breathtaking.  It is very romantic and pictures taken during that “golden hour” are really stunning.

I will have to wait another five to ten years when all the kids are grown up to be able to take them to visit the Great Ocean Road.

When was your last Road Trip?
