Jusangjeolli Cliff of Jungmun

the lava cliffs

the lava cliffs

Besides visiting a lava cave we visited a lava cliff while on vacations in Jeju island.   Jusangjeolli Cliff of Jungmun  as formed when the lava from Mt.Hallasan erupted into the sea of Jungmun. They are rock pillars shaped like cubes or hexagons of various sizes and almost seem as if stonemasons had carved them out.

It was extremely hot afternoon and this was our last stop before heading back to the hotel for the day.  Tiger girl was getting exhausted from all the walking and insisted on being carried all the time at this place of interest.

You can see how rectangular the  column are in this shot. I think that it must look really magnificent during sunset. It’s a pity that we were not able to watch the sunset there that day.

It was really interesting to see the waves crashing onto the lava cliff. There was even a speedboat tour below which allowed tourist to go up and close to the lava cliff.  They weren’t allowed to climb up to the cliff and examine the rocks itself though. I think it would be awesome to walk on it and take a picture if it was possible.

Have you seen a lava cliff before?

10 Pictures from the Teddy Bear Museum in Jeju

The Teddy Bear Museum

The Teddy Bear Museum

One of the places we visited while at Jeju island was this Teddy Bear Museum.  It was located in the same area as the Botanic garden and three waterfalls which we visited on the same day.

It seemed rather eerie seeing life size teddy bears starring at you. I am more used to seeing handheld size bears which are more chubby and cuddly like the ones that I have at home.

Music inspired theme collage on bears using CDs and also paper cut outs of dancer bears.

Historic bears

Historic bears

The bears in this showcase was made between 1900-1910. There are more then 100++ years old. It’s really ingenious how they were made back in the olden days.

I found this exhibit extremely cute. Teddy bears driving husky dogs through the snow. It’s really cool to see the teddy bears being dressed up in winter gear.

Room set up

Room set up

I would certainly love to have this set up for a room in a doll house which I have. Love the realistic decor and having bears  this size as accessories to play within a doll house would be super cool!!

The teddy’s performing the dragon dance celebrating the new year in this exhibit. There were a few teddy bears which went around in a circle as they paraded along with the dragon.
