10 Facts about me in High School
My high school years seem so long ago. It was like more then a decade ago for me. We don’t really have High School here in Singapore as from Primary school (7yrs to 12 years old) and we go on to Secondary school ( 13-16 yrs old).
After that it is either Junior College or Polytechnic or then to the University.
Here are 10 Facts about me in High(Secondary) School
- I was in an all girls Methodist school.
- I played netball and was in the String Ensemble.
- The highlight of physical education lessons was that we were taken to an all boys school for swimming lessons.
- I went on my first student exchange program to Taiwan.
- I was busy with homework, ensemble practices, piano and violin lessons.
- During the first two years our school was located in town and it was really cool that one can catch the 1.30pm movie straight when school ended at 1pm.
- The majority of high school friends who I still keep in contact with are not from my class.
- I was a rather quiet girl and didn’t really hang around with my classmates out of school. On the rare occasion that we had to meet up to do a project Mc Donalds was our usual haunt.
- I was into Japanese music and particularly the duo Chage & Aska.
- I wasn’t into fashion and the latest trends and am still not into it now.

I love this list. I want my son’s one to look like yours!
I remember the first time I went to SG, seeing kids studying on the metro, engrossed in books. I was so happy to see that, so happy!
In Slovenia we dedicate our high school years to achieving the best possible average, because college is free and getting the spot in the program you want to study is based solely on grades.
Thanks for sharing.

How awesome that you got out at 1, and near the downtown to boot! I feel like you gave a great primer on Secondary school in Singapore. Did you like Taiwan? My brother in law left the US to teach English there in 2008, and ended up staying, thanks to finding love!

@Jackie
For Yr 1 and Yr 2 the school I was at was in downtown itself. It was behind a shopping centre and a cinema…however when the school moved in Yr 3 the nearest place to hang out was the supermarket nearby which had a Mc Donalds outlet. Taiwan was good.. it was fun mixing with the local students. I still keep in contact with one of the pen-pals I made when I visited the school. My taiwanese penpal and I have been communicating for nearly 20 yrs time and we still drop a note to each other via MSN/FB even though we have gone on to get jobs/married etc. It’s a nice country with lovely picturous scenery and food.

It was great fun without the angst of dealing with boys and relationships I only had to deal with it when I was in University.
