Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

[Picture taken while traveling through the newly opened KPE tunnel]

I have been doing quite a lot of thinking the past few weeks.  Work has been piling up as I am in the midst of designing another multi page travel website which I hope to launch late next week. [ Hence the few posting here this week :)]

A few girlfriends and I have been chatting via MSN about the current gloomy global economic conditions. We are afraid that our spouses may lose their job due to the retrenchments and restructuring  happening in  many companies . The light at the end of this economic  crisis tunnel looks dim.  Cost of living here in Singapore is skyrocketing like every other part of the world and it is getting ever more difficult to survive.

Life seems bleak with inflation, rising costs of basic amenities  and dwindling value of the dollar.  All the more one needs to cut down on  frivolous spending and adopt a more frugal approach to daily living.

For the past year my girlfriends and I have been brainstorming on how to best supplement our families income while at the same time taking best care of our own kids.

Even in today’s modern world where the govt is supposedly to be more Pro family there are still many obstacles being faced by women who want both – take care of their family/kids themselves and earn a decent living at the same time.  Flexi-hour  well paying jobs are almost non existent here in Singapore.

Do you face the same problem being a WAHM?

The Dress Still Fits

Over the weekend I was de-cluttering my cupboard and found my wedding dress hanging there in the corner.  I took it out to try and was pleasantly surprised that it still FITS.  It proves that I have made it back to my ‘original’ size before kids. I bought the dress 8yrs ago as we had to have wedding celebrations in HongKong and Singapore. It made more economical sense to buy the dress from the wholesaler then to rent. Renting would set me back by  $800-$1000 while purchasing it upfront only cost me about $200. It really bring back many lovely memories as I recall all the hassle that I had in planning for the wedding. Everything had to be scheduled 1year in advance- the dinner venues, church, guest lists, flowers, wedding attire, hotel rooms etc. Can you still fit into your wedding dress?
