Happy Birthday Singapore

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGY5ff831B8&w=480&h=385]

Today Singapore turns 45 years old.  This year’s NDP theme song is sung by my cousin Corrinne May.  She is a singer/songwriter who is based in L.A. The past month she has been busy with NDP rehearsals and related publicity that I have yet to meet up with her.

Singapore has progressed a lot since it gained independence in 1965. The landscape and climate here has changed a lot and living here is much different then it was before.

Everything is getting more and more expensive and salaries are not increasing on par with the inflation rate.

We are not sure if we will be retiring in Singapore in the future but for the present we will still stay here till the kids complete their education.

How will you be celebrating National Day this year?

Weekend Reflections- Chuggington

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jme9WGifHdU&w=553&h=436]

Thomas the Train and friends no long ranks supreme in our household. This new group of chuggers have been easing their way into the minds of the boys lately. The show Chuggington is currently being shown on Playhouse Disney and the toys can be found in Toysrus.

I recently bought “Wilson Gets a Wash” from the Chuggington series of books from the Scholastic Book Spree.  Roy loves to read along with me when we take the book out to read before bedtime. He has been asking for the other books in the series which are featured on the back flap of the book. It’s great to see that he is extending his selection  of books that he chooses to read at night.

Are your kids into Chuggington also?
