Nesting Dolls -A Family Keepsake

I remember when I was a young girl I was really intrigued by the Nesting dolls which my  late grandfather had. The wooden dolls were so delicately painted with various murals on them. It was great fun twisting open each doll and finding a smaller one inside.

The set that my grandfather had was made up of a set of  nine representing the different members of the family. There was the father, mother and the seven kids. The dolls had a special significance for him as they represented the family , grandfather, grandmother and their seven kids.

I loved taking the dolls out from their display cabinets each time I visited. I pop open the dolls one by one and line them up from the biggest to the smallest.  I enjoyed playing with the smallest doll the most as it was the cutest and represented the baby of the family.

These Russian dolls are not only nice to look as an ornament but also can double up as jewellery and spice containers if needed.

I love their stack ability and nesting them inside one another really saves space especially when there is limited display shelf space.

I’m really thinking of getting a set of nesting dolls for myself so that I’ll be able to pass them down to my kids when they grow up as part of their family heirloom.
