June school holidays came and went in a flash. Before I knew it the kids are back in school.  It was an extremely short break for them as they went for school camps and had extra lessons. There wasn’t many changes to arrange play dates for them.

The kids had the opportunity to act like a mineralogist during the visit to the ArtScience Museum.

Besides taking part in the activities at the museum we had a chance to view these lovely exhibits. It was great looking at the sparkly jewellery on display.

It was certainly lovely going through the ArtScience Museum with the kids.  A unique experience was what all of us had.

June was a busy month for me too as I was on the final lap of my ACTA course.  Now that the course is finally completed  I’m able to cross it off my to-do list. Yeah!!

I feel relieved that I manage to achieve one of my goals that I set out. Now as a certified trainer it will certainly be easier for me to branch into teaching adults besides kids.

This week I went to learn how to tamper chocolates properly. Will share what I learn in next week’s post.

How was June for you?

Being a Mineralogist

Experimenting and researching are what the kids enjoy doing. All of them love Science and would grab any chance they could have to adorn the white Scientist coat.

It is really cool to see the kids eyes light up when they realised that they could take part in the session and get up and close with the minerals on display.

The kids had a chance to work in a “lab” during the ArtScienceMuseum  tour they had during the school holidays. It was interesting for them to learn more about the different minerals that they were presented that day.

Many shiny stones come from dull rocks which are polished so that they shine.  Diamonds are the most common ones which we see in the shops. However there are many other minerals which are equally stunning once they are polished.

All of them had fun being a mineralogist during the session and could work with different materials each.

It is great that there are hands-on segments in many different museums in Singapore. The kids here are really spoiled for choice with the range they can select from.

Are there hands on segments for kids in the local museums?
