Writer’s Workshop: Only For Awhile

It was after the birth of Doggie boy that I decided to take up Yoga. I heard that it was a good way to exercise and increase one’s flexibility.  I got a Baby Om book and intended on following the activities stated in the book. It was far easier to read then to actually carry out those actions. A video would have been more suitable at that stage but I just didn’t have one. In the end I decided on signing up for a Yoga course and attended one at the nearby community centre.

It was interesting initially but as I got halfway through the course it got boring for me as I found the actions rather monotonous and too slow for my liking. Even though the actions were easy to follow and I didn’t have much difficulty  with the different pose that I had to get into.

Yoga was suppose to help me calm the mind and put me in a meditative state . However I kept on looking at my watch and wondering when the lesson would end. My mind was thinking about what I would and could be doing after the class instead of letting time stay still and enjoy the class.

Yoga didn’t really assist me in weight lost and was more of a social activity then a real workout for me. I thought to myself that I should have taken up Pilate’s or something else which would give me a more intensive workout. I stopped going to the Yoga classes after the course had ended. Yoga is something which I have tried and  won’t be trying again.

Are there any sports which you have tried?

Which one would you recommend?

Writer’s Workshop:Memorable Day at Work

Keys © by Moyan_Brenn (BE BACK ON 23TH FEB)

It started off as a normal day. Wake up the kids and prepare them for breakfast. The trouble only started when I had to open the door to get the kids out of the house and walk the 5 yr old to his bus pick up point.  I couldn’t find my set of keys. I normally hung the keys in the usual area where the key press is but that morning it was missing from its position. I figured out that one of the boys may have taken the keys and played with it tossing it around the house.

After frantically searching for the keys I managed to spot it and opened the door with it, rushed everyone out of the house so that  Doggie boy won’t miss his school bus and closed the door with the keys hung in the key press.  Feeling relieved that he didn’t miss his school bus I brought the other kids out for   grocery shopping. I faced another shocked to find the keys missing again when I tried to open the main door after reaching home laden with bags of groceries.

Luckily I had my  mobile with me and called R telling him about our predicament of being locked out of the house. R’s office isn’t too far from home and he managed to take time off to come home just to open the door for us. The kids were extra nice that day as they didn’t fuss that day but played happily at the playground and feasting on the cheese and Yakult that we bought  till their dad came home.

Have you been caught locked out of your house?

How did you solve the problem?
