Organize For A Fresh Start

Organize for a Fresh Start: Embrace Your Next Chapter in Life by Susan Fay West is one of the most useful books which I have read this year.

In this book Susan talks about changes and transitions. How one change can lead to a series of changes which may sometime be too overwhelming for a person.

There is a need to know what one’s objectives and goals are. Everything that is there is for a purpose. If there is no need or use for an item it should be removed or given away.

The four parts of Susan’s book address the need for

  • Getting Started
  • Reorganizing your surroundings
  • Manage your time
  • Staying Organized.

I love the fact that Susan has broken down each aspect of change into byte size chunks which are easy to digest. She dishes out a lot of helpful tips to deal with the different changes that you face in life and how to organize yourself for a fresh start.

This year has been a change for me as I am aiming to remove all the mental and physical clutter that has been bogging me down all these years.

It has been hard for me to keep to a schedule and really see through what I have planned to do. Susan makes organizing easy through her  step by step focus on the 3 Ps – People, Product and Place.

Through focusing on one at a time it’s easier to make a decision on the things to keep or discard.  Our needs and wants constantly change and as we age we have different priorities. Organizing is a ongoing project which I now handle more enthusiastically after being equipped with the proper tools.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are 100% my own.

1. Do you prefer your ice cream in a bowl or in a cone?

I like it in a bowl more then a cone as I’ll be able to have more flavours to savour then.

2. What three things do you love the smell of?
I like the sent of the perfume that R bought for me Clinique Happy, Roses and cakes in the oven baking.
3. Giftcards or no? (In regards to gift giving…)
I would say yes as it’s really hard to pick out gifts for others . It would be better for them to choose it themselves.
4. What sports did you play in high school if any and do you still play them?
I used to play netball in high school. I don’t play it now but we do occasionally play badminton with the boys.

5. Were you in band in high school? What instrument did you play?

I was in the String Ensemble and I played 1st violin.  However if I were in the band I would like to play the drums or saxaphone.

My Questions this week.

 1) What brand of nail polish do you recommend?

2) Is there any “must have” colours for you?
