SOC: Bringing up Baby

They say that bringing up a girl is different from bringing up a boy.  After having two boys and now a girl I do notice that there is quite a bit of difference. For once she screams way more then her brothers. I seriously don’t remember them being so noisy at this age.

It has been a joy staying home and watch Tiger girl grow from a tiny infant to a feisty 18 month old toddler she has really changed a lot this past 1.5 yrs.  From toothless grins to a 7.5 teeth smile there has been rapid development in my little girl. She now is able to follow simple instructions and seems extremely mature for her age. I guess with two older brothers at home to learn from it must have accelerated her development.

At 18 months old she is able to do the following

  • Self feed using fork and spoon. It still is a bit messy and I do need to guide her at times but it’s great that she is eating independently.
  • simple
  • Is able to call and address everyone of the family including grandparents.
  • Speaks in 2-3 word sentences. ” Nana (She call’s herself that) wants Cheese!!”, ” Please.. Mummy.. Thank You etc”
  • can follow simple instructions spoken to her in English, Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • Knows how to clear up after herself. Will bring her bowl/cutlery into the kitchen after finishing her food. Throws the tissues/ boxes into the dustbin after drinking/using it.
  • Keeps her shoes in the shoe rack when we come home after going out.
  • Helps me around the house when I do the laundry, keeps things after using.

I feel girls are more caring and considerate as compared to boys as she will happily bring me my pair of shoes before we leave the house and she loves coming up to give me hugs and kisses when she sees me. My boys never did that at this age.

Bringing on Some Blog Positivity and Saturday Memes

Waiting for his food.

This week was a rather chaotic week for me as the kids were on a week long term break.  My schedule was really messed up by having both boys at home with the girl and all three vying for my attention simultaneously. We went on play dates and outings during the week but too managed to do some catch up on some academic revision which I had scheduled for the boys.  I can’t wait for school to start again next week so I can catch up on the tasks and pending deadlines which I have to meet this March.

Next week I’ll be taking part in Blog Positivity Week.  I’ll be writing about how blogging has changed for me and evolved through the years since I started back in 2007. There will be a lot of stuff lined up next week with another giveaway starting tomorrow.

1. Have you ever felt that you needed to just forget an ex-lover?
Never. I’m too in love with my current lover to ever need to think about an  ex-lover.

2. Spring picnics and cookouts are here! What would you want to have on your plate as you head back to the table?
I would like to bring the kids on a picnic one of these weekends. We could do a Teddy Bear’s picnic just for the fun of it. Sound’s great doesn’t it 😛

3. It’s St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th! Do you celebrate? Drink Green Beer? Go out?

No celebration here. As it’s the weekend we bring the kids out as usual. Today we went bicycle riding in the park but it rained halfway and had to leave early.

4. Did you remember to wear green today?
No.  My son Doggie boy will happily wear  Green any day as it is his favourite colour. His favourite pieces of clothes are his green Angry bird T-shirt and Jacket( See picture above)

5. What phrase or saying do you over use?
Shh..be quiet the baby is sleeping”.. and the older brothers will be still oblivious and making a din until I go up to them and stare at them directly in their faces.

6. If you could (or could have) change(d) something about your relationship with your parents, what would it be?
Not sure about this..maybe I could have been more open with then regarding certain issues but at present I remain status quo.

7. If the NCAA Men’s or Women’s Final Four basketball tournament was played in your hometown arena or within easy driving distance from where you live, would you try to attend one of the games?
No. I’m not into watching basketball so I’ll give it a miss.

8. No matter what’s going on in your life, what always makes you smile?
Seeing the kids  and R every morning. 🙂

9. We’ve asked this before: What else is on your mind? Go ahead and rant

I  want to be able to make passive income or have a steady stream of income while being home with the kids. However it seems like so hard to get something really suitable with will not compromise my time too much and doesn’t pay peanuts for my efforts.
