Dim Sum on a Friday

Cha Siew Bao

During our road trip to Malaysia we had Dim Sum for breakfast while we were in Kuantan. We saw that they offered Tim Sum for breakfast  at the Chinese restaurant in the hotel we stayed in and tried it out.

Har Gao

This is one of the kids favourite item- Har Gao which is shrimp dumplings. Even Tiger girl wolfed down 2 of them by herself. She is really growing an appetite for Dim Sum.

Another regular item which we order when we have Dim Sum is Xiu Mai. These are filled with meat and decorated with fish roe on the top.

The food was not as fantastic as expected and I’ve tasted better Dim Sum in Singapore and Hong Kong. However, it was adequate to fill our tummies before we moved on for the day’s activities. Maybe I should try to make my own Dim sum for the kids one of these weekends.

Do you like Dim Sum too?

Writer’s Workshop: How Different? Blast from the Past

Before and Now

Before and Now

It’s more then 10 yrs since I’ve been in Australia. Back then while as a University student I was much more fit and slimmer as compared to today.  My status has also changed a lot since then. From a single to attached and now married with three kids a lot has happened this past 10+ years. I can say I have been greatly blessed.

I have more wrinkles and white hairs now as compared to back then as a carefree student. My daily workload is much heavier then before but I’m enjoying it more.  I guess that it has taken 12 years  to get to where I am now. I have been through quite a bit of life experience this past decade but it has worked to shaped me into a better person.

I can say that now I am more patient after having 3 kids of my own. However there are certain things which I’ve given up being tolerant about which includes being nice to people who are really hard to get along with. I don’t put up with other people’s nonsense and bend over back to accommodate requests/demands that seem ridiculous to me. Doesn’t mean that you are “family” that you are allowed to take advantage of my generosity.

I’m more efficient now at multi-tasking as compared to before. I think it is a skill that is born out of  necessity to handle kids, work and household. My focus in life hasn’t changed much. I’m still focusing a lot on the family and it’s constantly evolving needs.  I’m more organised and task oriented and have learned how to make use of the time in the day to do my work/tasks effectively.

How have you changed this past 10 years?

Any drastic changes in your life?
