Writer’s Workshop: Kinda Random Facts about Us
There are many things about our family which I have been sharing here on the blog. Our daily lives, places that we go and the experiences which we have been through. However I’m sure most of my readers are not aware of the following.
- There are distinct differences between the males and females in our household. I’m not talking about gender difference but a more genetic based one. The boys(guys) are all right handed and their blood group is B+ while the gals are lefties and our blood group is O+.
- The boys have the same middle character (Yan) in their Chinese name while the girl’s Chinese name is totally different. The choosing of their Chinese name has nothing to do with following the family registry but rather which name suited their birth timing and date(Ba Zhi).
- Two out of three siblings have the same preference for fruits. Tiger girl and Doggie boy love eating strawberries, grapes and practically any kinds of berries. Monkey boy on the other hand dislikes fruits and would only take the occasional banana or apple.
- The kids 1st word is Daddy. All three of them started off calling Daddy. You can say they were “trained” to do so as I’ve been prompting them to call Daddy since they were born. ( A great way to get R more interactive with the kids :P)
- Only #1 and #3 look like they are related. Tiger girl resembles Monkey boy when he was younger while Doggie boy has a different look all together. Monkey boy resembles R when he was a kid while Tiger girl looks like me. Doggie boy looks kinda in between.
What similarities/differences are there between your kids?
Do they resemble you or your spouse when you were kids?

We’ve got two who look like me and two who look like dad (and together we might not even look related, lol!).
The pictures are great, and the facts were fun to read.

Somem said that our son looks like me while others said that it looks like his mom. However, there are some that said it wasn’t lookk any of us. There are baby pictures of mine and her mom and said that some of the features looks like either me or his mom. here is a photo of mine and him http://www.chemistdad.com/2012/01/father-and-son-allan-and-matthew.html and tell the similarities or difference. hehehe

such fun facts!
Thank you for sharing them with us!
how strange the fact about the handedness and the blood types…?
My two children, I have 1 girl and 1 boy, are both right handed, blue eyed, and O+ blood types, but my son is HUGE 6’1″ and my daughter is 5’1″ 🙂 i think it was their preference for milk that caused it….my son used to drink a gallon of milk a day! 🙂
Thank you for sharing with us!

Dominque, these are interesting facts about your family. Guess what? I’m left-handed and I’m O+! How cool is that? But I’m the only one that is in my family of four (two kids and two adults). I was a little disappointed that neither one of my kids were born with smokey blue eyes like my husband has. They both have hazel eyes…like me. They’re beautiful, nonetheless. I have really tall kids, but that’s because I married a tall man. I wouldn’t have it any other way. LOL

Hahaha! J’s first word was also Daddy; Z’s was Mama. On looks, the jury is still out. Some say J looks like me; others say he looks like my husband. Z doesn’t look like either of us, but looks like J. (She does look like my husband in his kid pictures, though).

Very interesting facts about your family! 🙂 My boys, they claim, look like their father. LOL But in terms of behavior, the older son takes more from his father, and the younger, from me. 😉 Can I join this meme still? 😀

These are interesting facts, Dominique! 🙂
My second brother and I look alike and my youngest brother does not have any semblance from us. Nonetheless, we still love each other more so now that we are adults. Gone were the days when we were like cats and dogs, lol!

I just learned something! I never knew that Chinese baby names were based on birth – I’m glad to know that!
Both of my kids look like me, but my son has his father’s (and grandmothers and great-grandfather’s) eyes for sure. My stepchildren both look like their mother’s side of the family. All my kids are into similar things – video games, nerdy movies/tv shows, legos – except my stepdaughter who’s the artist in the family!

Our oldest sons are twins, they are mirror twins. That means they are pretty much alike but opposite (like in the mirror). One is right handed, the other left handed. One’s face points right at the bottom, the other left. They part thear hair on opposite sides.
All of he kids look sort of alike. They all had my chin with bottom teeth that slant inwards. Etc, etc. Our older daughter, Susie, has some webbed toes, I have some also. So does a great granddaughter. None has black hair like mine. Susie has blue eyes, the only one, the others are brownish green like mine.
🙂 I enjoyed reading about your family, Dominique. You are a neat little family.

There are some similarities. Some are features and some are just characteristics. My daughter has a mix of our best qualities and features. While the boys one has the dad’s features and my personality while the other has my features and the dad’s personality.

My kids look as different as night and day! My son is blonde, fair skinned, and green eyed like me…while my daughter is brunette, olive skinned, and brown eyed like her dad! People often don’t think she belongs to me unless they see my husband and I together.

My son’s first work is Daddy too. Some are confused when they see our son. They will say he looks like me but other say he looks like his Dad. It’s a mixture I think. There are some features that he got from me and some from his Dad.
By the way, I admire you when you write and enumerate things. So simple but you explain it very well.

I am the only type O in the family while my father is type A and B for mother. So my sister and brother had type A and B. All of us are right handed.
