Writer’s Workshop- Childhood Fears
Childhood fears are something which sometimes one is unable to grow out of. This week I am writing about one of the fears which I still have to battle on occasions - Dealing with frustrating situations
I really hate disruptions in my schedule. I’m a planner and love planning ahead so every person involved is updated and briefed of the upcoming events. I do make provision for last minute delays and changes but it always gets me frustrated that other plans have to be compromised in the process.
The most stressful thing for me is trying to get important information someone on the phone who is uncontactable. It is extremely annoying being re-directed to a voice mailbox and having to leave a message which you are unsure when it would get heard and attended to.
There have been rapid advancement in the communication sector with smart phones and the growth of the internet in recent years. However, communication networks can still be down and work schedules so hectic that they are not able to communicate with you when you need it the most.
Sometimes I feel like really yelling out loud to release the tension that I am feeling but it would be useless. The situation would not improve and be resolve until the party on the other side can be contacted.
I think that until and unless I am able to learn to let go of these uncertainties which I face this childhood fear will be lingering around for much longer.
What Childhood Fears still haunt you?
Writer’s Workshop- The Perfect Summer
This week on Writer’s Workshop I will be writing on Prompt #5-
What five images paint a perfect picture of summer to you? Put those five images together in a piece of writing.
If there was a Perfect Summer day it would start with having waffles with maple syrup and fruits for breakfast.
After breakfast it would be great to have a morning stroll in a “storybook” garden. It would be nice to breathe in the various scents and enjoy the beauty of the garden. The kids would love playing ball in the park and riding their bikes.
After time in the park it would be nice to sit down to an ice-cold drink and some lunch/brunch .
After lunch it will be time to hit the malls for a bit of shopping. The kids would love a visit to their favourite toy store Toysrus and I wouldn’t mind picking up a few items for myself in the process.
The day would be perfect if while making our way back home we could be able to stop and watch the sunset.
What would your perfect summer day
look like?
TT- Setting up the Nursery
This week I have been busy taking out the baby clothes that we had purchased earlier on in the year to wash. I also went through Roy’s old clothes and tossed out those that were too worn to be re-used by R3.
After sorting out the clothes I realized that most of the clothes we got are for 6-12mths old as we were afraid of buying too small a size and R3 would outgrow quickly.
I remember both Ryan and Roy were up to 5kg after 1 month after birth. I estimate that R3 should be around the same size/weight as she is roughly about 2.7kg now about 3 weeks before the delivery date. The gyane estimates that she would be between 3.5-3.7kg on birth. We will have to wait and see if his estimate is accurate.
The hospital bag is in the midst of being packed and the other baby items being sorted out and cleaned.
The baby cot has already been set up and new bedsheets have been purchased.
The next thing on the list will be purchasing the nursing wear which I would need after her birth.
A Letter from Ryan
This week as part of Mama Kat’s workshop I will be attempting prompt #1
Dear Mommy and/or Daddy…(write a letter to yourself from one of your children)
I haven’t really received a letter from Ryan as yet but if I did it should look like this.
Dear Mommy,
I know that it is a long time to my birthday but I really REALLY want to let you know what I want. I really want a bed as comfortable as yours. I want to sleep on a Simmon’s mattress instead of the mattress on my bed. I also do not want Roy to keep on climbing on my bed to sleep at night. He keeps on distrubing me at night and I cannot sleep properly. Why don’t you buy two Simmon mattresses? One for me and one for Roy so that he can sleep by himself on his own bed and I can sleep better on my own bed.
I also would like a telescope so that I can have a clearer look at the Moon. You know that I like astronomy so I need all the proper equipment to study the planets and the moon.
Mummy if you can get me all of these I would be very very happy.
Love,
Ryan.
