Writer’s Workshop: Zooming back to the time

Travelling back in time
It has always been a wish of mine to travel back in time. It would be really nice to be able to go back in time to the period in time when I was a university student.
I remember when I was studying in the University of Melbourne I used to walk down alleys like the one pictured above. I was happy and carefree and could spend my leisure time reading of just hanging out with classmates.
Looking at the stone brick walls of the Arts & humanities faculty while just lazing on the green lawns having a sandwich for lunch. It was really very relaxing.
This time around I would sign up for more units in the Arts faculty instead . I would like to pursue my interest in Photography, IT and languages.
I do not regret taking a Bachelor of Commerce and if it could have been possible I would take a double major instead to give me more flexibility of career choice.

A bright spark is all that it takes to get started
I would be more daring and sign up for more varied activities to take part on campus. Join more different clubs and groups to get to know more people and widen my social circle.
I would like to have started work in a different field. Maybe even try a marketing job which allow me to travel and visit different places on the job. It would have given me a perspective of the corporate work culture and do work in a different industry.
If I had the chance I would love to have the opportunity to work abroad while doing freelance photography.
What would you have chosen differently if
you were able to travel back in time?
Next up on the blog is full time mom, Nadia from www.itchyfingersnap.blogspot.com, who blogs about random stuff that tickles her fancy. When asked about being a time traveller, wonder where in time she’d like to travel to? Perhaps a place not too long ago, yet familiar enough to ignite her dreams! Read on 🙂

I really wish that I had the artistic eye that a good photographer needs. You know, a lot of people take up freelance photography aside from their regular job. It’s something to think about…..

@Kathy,
actually I do get to practice photography here on this blog and do some travel photography each year. But it would be certainly neat to go for a professional course in it 🙂

If I could step back in time I think it would be wonderful to be more appreciative of the joys of motherhood, rather than just feeling exhausted by it all! However I had to laugh, as I have a daughter who has just finished doing the same course as you, at the same University (It’s lovely to know you are a Melbourne Uni lass!) and she would not describe her days as very relaxing!! So maybe it is only looking back that we truly appreciate all we have!
Great post!

I wish I had gone into something more fulfilling like a not-for-profit group or become a teacher. I wonder how many people are actually happy about the career path they choose?

Good thoughts on what you might do differently.

Cool post. I can’t of anything I’d want to change offhand because I like where I am right now. Perhaps, there’s another dimension in which some of the things I think I’d like to be is actually happening.

If I could go back in time, I would be a dentist. No regrets, though, because I like what I do right now.

I don’t think I’d choose anything differently should I be given a chance to go back in time.

If I could travel back in time, I would’ve chosen to live healthier and more active at a very young age. You still have the opportunity to continue your photography. 🙂

If I could travel back in time, I want to learn how to invest in different financial instruments so I can retire rich. 🙂

I have a degree in accountancy and an MBA, but a lot of times, I find myself wondering about how things work – like how electricity work, etc . sometimes i think it is good we have kids because they zoom us back in time.

I would also love to go back to my college days and really maximize the fact that I went to the premiere state university. I’ll take more interesting classes and sign up under the more popular professors. I’d walk around more, be more engaged in university activities. I didn’t really like being in school, I think anywhere I went i just felt cooped up haha. Didn’t like feeling obliged to learn something. oh well.

I really can’t think what I would like to zoom back in time to do. Possibly not make any foolish mistakes???

Ahh the whimsical ache to go back in time. I miss University too. I think that’s why I decided to study Nihongo. I miss the classroom setting. Hanging out in a place where learning is the most important goal. I wish I can spend my entire life in Uni. haha~

If I will turn back the time, I would choose a different course. I would go with IT or business instead of teaching. But I get to like it now. And I’m happy with my life with all my loved ones around me. 🙂

If I could turn back time, I would finish my graduate studies so that I can have more credentials…wait, now that I am going homebased work, I wish I learned a programming language so I can code and tinker.
