Pickles and Squid Ink Cheong Fun

Pickles

Pickles

Whenever you go to a Chinese restaurant they would  serve you a small saucer of pickles and also some nuts.  The kids would all rush for the salted nuts and finish them up even before I get a chance to take some photos of them. During this particular visit to the Chinese restaurant it was the same so I only got to photograph the pickles as the kids do not take spicy foods.

Squid ink Cheong Fun

This was an interesting dish. Chee Cheong Fun normally comes in white and sometimes there are fillings like prawns or char siew inside. This particular one did not have any fillings inside but was doused with sesame oil instead. It tasted yummy and was visually different from the normal Cheong Fun which we use to eat.

Did you eat anything interesting this week?

Writer’s Workshop: Celebration Monkey boy style

Monkey boy with his certificate and trophy

Monkey boy did it again. His academic result was within the 10% percent of the cohort for his level this year. Last year he went on stage too to receive his prize and certificate. This year there is no skateboard for him but we will be bringing him and his siblings to Disneyland for a short vacation.

Seeing him going on stage to receive his award really made me smile. It was really a proud moment for the both of us.

His year long effort has paid off and he has managed to maintain his grades.

What has made you smile lately?
