Top 10 Highlights of September

Back shot of the boys

Back shot of the boys

September  was a rather short month for me as the kids had their term break and a few other public and school holidays in the month. We have been out  a lot but I didn’t really get around to snapping so many pictures of the kids at play.

1. My little girl turned 3 years old. She is now in Nursery one and much more independent then when she was when she was two.  She talks a lot and really enjoys spending time with her brothers.

2. It was the first time that Tiger girl went to the zoo. It wasn’t easy handling the 3 kids solo at the zoo and they didn’t really  enjoy themselves there. I guess that seeing animals wasn’t interesting or exciting enough for them.

3. It was the 2nd time that Tiger girl took part in Sports day at school. This year the sports day was held at the beach and the kids had fun taking part in the obstacle courses for their level.  This was the first time that she won a trophy.

3. The kids watched a few movies the past month. We watched Planes and Smurf 2. Now that tiger girl is older she is able to sit through the whole movie with the boys. However it’s not doing any good for my wallet as after having popcorn and coke at the movie they still bug me to bring them for some fries

4. Now that Tiger  girl is three she is loves to be in the know about everything that is happening in the house. She’s a really sassy little boss who insists to know my every movement in and out of the house.

5.  I love these moments. The three of them playing together with no shouting and screaming from any one of them. It is really bliss to my ears.

6.  Lunch time on weekdays is when I get my me time. It’s the only time when I can enjoy the silence around me when all the kids are in school.

7. The kids are growing up really quickly and I’m doing more reading this month to learn how to help them cope with the different emotions which they may be facing. Emotional First Aid is an excellent read if you want to learn how to help your child deal with negative emotions which may be harmful or fatal to your child if not dealt with properly.

8. Girls need to be taught earlier then boys as they tend to mature earlier. Even though Tiger girl is still a bit young to develop any serious relationships at this age but even at this age she can learn from The cupcake theory about how important it is to be aware of her own self-worth and to be in charge of her own happiness.

9. The kids ate out a lot in September. We kept on bringing them out for Pasta and Ramen and didn’t really cook at home that often.

10. The best thing for me is finding out how fun it is shopping online. With Redmart  I can buy my groceries with a click of the mouse and don’t need to worry about lugging the heavy bags back home with the kids in tow.

How was your September?

The Cupcake Theory: The secret ingredient to being happy in your relationships by Clara Lee . Written by a Korean American Author  the book is aimed at  teen girls to educated them about romantic relationships and self worth.

The 64 page book talks about the creating relationships is like baking of cupcakes

Like baking a cupcake there are certain main ingredients which are needed to create a good relationship.

The Cupcake theory is based on four main principles which empowers young girls to be in charge of their own lives and relationships which they may enter into. As a girl you are the cupcake while your partner is the frosting on the cupcake.

My thoughts

I found this a short read with lovely illustrated pictures of the various different types of cupcakes.  Clara uses different  cupcakes  to reflect  different type of personality which teenage girls can easily identify with. Ie: The attractive partner or the fun partner.  Many a time with teenage love the girl loses her identity as she places more emphasis on her partner then herself. In the process she may not be acknowledging her self worth and be responsible for her own happiness. The book is certainly a great reminder for teenage girls.
