10 Things We Did while Being Together on the Weekend
Children’s Season 2013
During the weekend we decided to hop down to the National Museum of Singapore as it was the start of the Children’s Season 2013. Entry to all museums in Singapore were free to Singaporeans and Permanent residents since 18th May.

1. We saw some colorful cows on the way to the museum. The cows are a regular feature during this season and this is the 3rd year that we have spotted cows alongside the road.

2. The cows were part of the “Love your Environment” campaign as there were such hearts hung next to the trees where the cows were.

3. We started out museum tour at the Being Together exhibit whereby the kids were given a quiz sheet to fill up. They could exchange the quiz sheet for some art & craft material when they have completed it.

4. The kids played detective looking for the answers to the questions that were listed in the quiz. It wasn’t easy to find the answers and we had to help them along by giving them additional prompts.

5. Family pictures are important. In this room the photographer captured three different poses of each family and framed them up to form the display above.

6. We saw the many different ways photographs can be used to capture the essence of a person. This displays of black and white images of a persons back on a street really captured my attention.

7. The kids learned about the history of photography. They saw how cameras were in the past and how images were captured on film and negatives.

8. They also learned how props and background are used to create an image. It looks as if Doggie boy was seated in a living room of an apartment when he was actually seated in front of a wallpaper backdrop.

9. Positioning of the camera is very important. Compared with the previous picture of the same set there is a lot of difference in the composition of the picture depending on the angle that one is focusing on.

10. Put into practice what you have just learned. Being inspired by what I saw at the photo exhibition I tried out with this back view of two of my favorite persons.
