FarFaria App Start Page

FarFaria Stories is the only app to date that I know off which has a great selection of books within the app.  When you start up the app you would see the latest books additions to the app and their pick of the week.

The islands

The islands

If the books on display are not to your liking you can visit one nine different lands-including Bedtime Bluffs, Fantasy Falls, Animal Kingdom and Adventure Island to look for your desired book.

Once you enter  the world there are 3 different options to how you can select your book.

1. Choose your book by title A-Z

2. The Newest book available.

3. The level of difficulty- 1 to 4 (Simple picture books to preschooler reading level)

Once the book has been selected it will be loaded on the screen and you have the choice to either have it read to you or self read.

As you can see from the collage above the story book we chose landscape (2 pages to a view) mode to view the book instead of portrait(1 page to a view). You can turn the page by swiping it and exit a story anytime by tapping on the menu bar which appears on the top of the iPad.  When you finish reading the book you can add it to your favourites or read one of the three recommended books on the last page.  If you wish to choose other storybooks or visit the other lands you can easily access them from the tool bar at the top.

There are no interactive elements in the book, games or even colouring pages. The books are strictly for reading or to follow along with for younger kids.

My thoughts

I love the wide selection of books and the fact that new books are added in weekly.  Most storybook apps  that I have reviewed to date are only on 1 particular story and the kids would normally get bored listening to the story after a while. With FarFaria they are spoilt for choice and there are books catering both to my 2yr old and my 6yr old reader.

You can get this storybook app via iTunes. It is free too download and use during the trial period after which it cost $3.99 per month for a subscription.
