Writers Workshop: Getting Through Summer
It’s July and it’s suppose to be the start of summer for most people. However staying in the tropics it is summer all year round. The only difference is whether it is hot and wet or just plain hot!! The heat can really sap ones energy and on some days I find my energy level rapidly depleting even though it is only lunch time.
I find that my blogging schedule has changed these few months. I used to find that my afternoons are my best time for drafting post and getting my ideas down onto the blog. However all these have changed since Tiger girl been sleeping lesser in the afternoon. She doesn’t have a fixed nap time and sometimes can even go without a nap for the day. It really throws my schedule blogging schedule out of the window.
I now try to blog early in the morning before the kids wake up or after they go to bed. If there are spare minutes or seconds during the day I will try to start on a draft and hopefully it gets completed by the end of the day.
I started working on this blog post in the afternoon after lunch but now as I’m typing in this particular sentence the clock on the wall already shows 8.40pm. I have been pulled away from my laptop countless times by the kids with their 101 requests. I had been attending to spills, setting dinner, bathing the kids, cleaning up, answering calls, supervising homework, piano practice among other things.
Thankfully at this present moment they are playing in their bedroom so I can type as fast as my fingers. Opp..”spoken” too soon as they come charging out of the room screaming at each other. Another interruption which I have to attend to which disrupts my train of thought again!!
Back again after having to play judge with the kids. I’ll better speed type the rest of the ideas I have on hand if I’m to complete this post before it’s time to send the kids off to sleep.
Finally this post is done.
How has your blogging schedule changed this summer?
Has it been for the better or worse for you?

My blogging schedule gets a lot harder in the summer when there is no school! Your post sounds very familiar to me. 😉

My blogging schedule hasn’t changed that much, but I tend to take more break now as my laptop gets extremely hot on my lap, really! Just bought myself another cooling pad and hope this will help!
The actual writing part is hard though since I lost my train of thought with so much commotion going on and around the house.

My blogging schedule is actually more relaxed now that summer is here. During the school year I homeschool my son and it takes my entire day. I don’t even bother blogging or working in the early mornings. I try to do it at night when everyone is asleep.
I am right there with you – life as a mom is full of interruptions but we get through it and we get to hug our precious interruptions at the end of the day knowing that it’s all worth it.

sounds like a busy schedule. Guess having children will do that!
I have to write my draft and blog around work, either early in the morning, or late at night.
I try to do my crafts on the weekend. {:-Deb

The best part of teaching, Dominique, is summer vacation. The nextr best is Christmas holidays followed by spring break. 🙂 That is what I told people back when I was teaching. But I would still be teaching instead of being retired if I live across the street from my school.
Every day is a holiday for me so my blogging is fairly consistent throughout the year. Perhaps a little slowed after winter is over because then I can play golf. We are hot here too, in the 100’s F some days…

You both are so lovely!
1. My blogging schedule happens mostly at 3am 🙂 it’s when I get to sit and play online 🙂
2. I’m not sure it’s for better or worse. I get more time to hang out with my kids but I stay up too late 🙂
Enjoy your summer and have a lovely weekend!

It has been better for me, since it is slow at my daytime job. I have more time to spend with my blog. I think summer blogging us usually slower. My kids are off, so again, that makes the schedule let’s hectic and therefore easier to spend time online. In the winter, people are more apt to stay in and write, create and blog. But again, for mothers of three, it would be quite different if the kids are at young ages like yours.

Unfortunately my blogging schedule is crazy and sporadic all year long, but then I have four kids under 4, the youngest being 3 months old. I blog at night mostly when I can’t sleep. Its also when I find the most inspiration. Visiting from Mama Kat’s!

Gosh.
I can’t imagine living with hot all year round. Doing summer in Arizona seems unsurvivable as I get older!
You and your daughter look prepared for the heat, though, in your cute cool dresses!
You are both gorgeous, too.
Thanks for linking.
