TT- Sucessfully stopping breastfeeding

This week marks the 1st week since Roy been sucessfully weaned from breastfeeding. I had been trying to wean him since he was 1yrs old and now at 2yrs 6mths he is officially off!! I had been taking it slow with Roy as I wanted to let him slowly self wean. A few weeks ago I read a post which mentioned a technique a mom had used successfully to wean her girls. It didn’t involve any cold turkey treatment which could have a drastic impact on a child’s behaviour so I was interested to try.
What method is it?

Hansaplast !! Two pieces of Band aid was what I required per day for a span of 3 days. By putting it on the breast daily Roy was deterred from daily nursing. He associates having a plaster to having a boo-boo and that mummy has a cut due to him biting. Even though he was fussing he didn’t insist to nurse and settled for the alternative- Soyamilk.
Now after a week he has totally forgotten about nursing and taking to Soya milk before bed. The next thing that I will have to tackle with Roy is to get him sleeping in his own room at night.

Weekend Linky Links- Mom Faves

This weekend has been rather busy for me as I have been doing a makeover for this site. For the longest time I wanted to go with a Magazine style WP template for my site. I have seen many of my blog buddies do a revamp with their magazine templates and they really look ultra cool!!
Do you like the new design? I’m still working on ideas about the header to make it a more timeless piece and a true reflection of ” From Dominique’s Desk” If you do have any suggestions please drop one in the comments below.
Here’s a round up of some of my favourite Mom sites.

Photobagit- Pin up Boys
| From Dominique’s Desk (c) 2009) |
Last Friday I collected this prize from Adele. It was the customized pouch which I won off a giveaway at Milly’s site – Singapore Kids Place. It took about a few weeks to get this pouch made but it’s worth the wait time. The photograph looks a bit grainy upon close examination. I guess it has to do with the fact that the picture has been digitally imprinted on the fabric and would definitely lack the clarity and sharpness of a photo print out.
It is a handy size pouch which is just right for travel toiletries when we travel on our yearly trip to Hong Kong. We have decided to present it to MIL when she next comes down to visit the boys. I’m sure that she will love it.
