It always pay to be oneself. Having taught for almost 10 years I know that sometimes it is just impossible to connect with certain students and parents included. If you have tried your best and still cannot connect well I will not fret over it but rather channel my energy building up my existing connections with my other students. @Beer,

She had some trouble connecting with some of the students. She said the best advice she got was to just be herself Some students will like you and some won't, it's inevitable. Be yourself, do your lessons the way you would when you practiced. When you see opportunity for a connection, make it. Wait until it comes. Either way you will be a good teacher if you actually try.
